Before the 20th century, #tigers, leopards, and cheetahs shared the same forest landscapes — particularly across central India. Cheetahs were formally declared extinct in India in 1952, leaving the landscape to tigers and leopards alone.Despite the hierarchy of power among them, these three species were recorded coexisting through niche partitioning — each carving out its own space, prey, and time to avoid direct competition.Their habitat preferences tell the first part of the story.
